DIRECTOR - Julian Chojnacki

A true Hollywood Veteran, Julian's 40 years spent in Arts & Entertainment have gifted him with diverse talents as Director, Cinematographer, Camera Operator, Master Steadicam Operator, Underwater Operator and 3D Filmmaker; as well, Writer & Editor. All  have successfully contributed to his innovative style in Film, Television & Music Video Production.

Julian started making 8mm and Super 8 movies at the age of nine with a camera given to him by his father. One of these early films gained recognition at the Canadian Amateur Film Festival. While still creating films, Julian pursued his musical career as a drummer in a Canadian rock band, spending five years on the road. In 1979, he pursued his career in the Film & TV industry by learning the art of Steadicam from the Academy Award winning inventor, Garrett Brown. 

He became a recognized Steadicam master in 1988, followed by many films where he was both the A Camera operator and Steadicam operator. His standout style and knowledge of story telling brought him his first directing opportunity with the CBS TV Series, “Nash Bridges”, where Julian Directed & Shot simultaneously. 

Julian holds such accomplishments as Director for the TV series, "Nash Bridges", starring Don Johnson and Cheech Marin, "The Strip", starring Sean Patrick Flanery (Boondock Saints) and "The District", starring Craig T. Nelson (Poltergeist), as well, Director of the Lifetime TV movie, "A Mother's Testimony", starring Kate Jackson (Charlie’s Angels) and the short film, “Heartburn”, starring Dennis Haysbert (The Unit). 

 

Julian has presented a variety of “'Shooting in 3D' Workshops” in both New York and Los Angeles, which was sponsored by Panasonic & hosted by StudentFilmmakers.com. 

 

Julian creates Music Videos of all genres, which include, “City of Dreams; Artists for Tennessee Flood Relief”, an official selection in the 2011 Nashville Film Festival, song written by CCMA 2010 Songwriter of the Year, Victoria Banks, as well, Live Forever” by Billy Joe Shaver(with Big & Rich)nominated in two categories for a CMT video award.

 

Julian currently resides in Nashville where he continues his career as a Filmmaker and Director as well as an Adjunct professor teaching advanced cinematography at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film.

 

***Julian Chojnacki was chosen to tour alongside Pope John Paul II in 1984 for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation(CBC), an honor greatly cherished.
